A great tune with an even better story to explain the odd squawking in the B part.

As a child, Yvon Mimeault grew up on a farm and was constantly terrorized by the rooster. One day Yvon decided to try his luck by shooting at the rooster with his slingshot. To Yvon’s surprise, he hit the rooster in the head.

Scared that he’d get in trouble for killing the farm’s only rooster, he propped the rooster up against the fencepost in the hopes that nobody would notice.

Later that day, Yvon was surprised (chagrined) to find that the rooster was still alive, but was suffering from some mental defects. From that day forward, the rooster made an odd noise when it was trying to crow. This tune’s weird croaking on the high E-string in the “B” part mimics the odd crowing of the rooster after being shot.
