This is the 23rd year for FMR, widely considered THE premier music festival in Quebec. Go! Don’t expect to sleep. Bring your instruments and be prepared for a great time. There is an air-conditioned building where dances happen throughout the festival. There is a storytelling pavilion, and several concurrent stages during the day featuring concerts and workshops. There is an open stage, as well. Sessions (singing and music) start as soon as the main stage ends and mostly go all night.
In the lovely Lanaudière area of Québec. The food at this festival is EXCELLENT! You can wander around with wine and beer, but only in unbreakable containers. They recycle absolutely everything. They even have flush toilets.
This is an extremely family-friendly festival, with lots of kids, activities and even a stage for children. Children under 12 are admitted for free. The entire festival site is centred around a playground, and is adjacent to a splashpad of epic proportions.
Briefly: a must-go event.
If you intend to camp, however, get on that early: it’s gotten complicated!
