Community events of our favourite dances, concerts, sessions, and camps.
On Sunday, July 9th, Ontario-style fiddler Pierre Schryer is playing at the Tranzac Club, along with Dermot Byrne and Adam Dobres. Their group is called 3TíR. I can’t find the price posted anywhere, but I assume it’s in the $20 range. You can see them on video from their facebook page.
Remember, Tranzac Club members (only $30 for a whole year) often receive discounts on admission.
One of the big Irish music events of the Toronto calendar, the annual Chris Langan weekend happens March 2-4, 2018.
This is the 27th year people have been meeting to play music, listen to concerts, talk about music, learn tunes and even dance a bit. Check out the schedule for instrumental and other workshops on the Chris Langan website.
One of our favourite local fiddlers, Dan MacDonald is releasing his new CD at Hugh’s Room. He grew up playing Cape Breton fiddle out east, and now plays with North Atlantic Drift and with the Irish dance show Brogue. We’d go far to hear his fabulous fiddling, and his sparkling humour. You can watch him playing fiddle with Brogue on YouTube.
